THE ROOT(BASE) CHAKRA

Also known as the Muladhara or Adhara chakra is found at the base of the spine. It is of vital importance in forming a physical and psychological foundation for our lives. Mula meaning "root" and Adhara, which means "support" or "base." The root chakra is associated with the elephant and helps to persevere, are solid and dependable. It helps us to utilize the required energy to survive and thrive in life.

The root chakra as the name implies is to keep you "rooted" to the ground. Aka. being grounded. When you are grounded you are more aware of what is physically around you. It aligns your body with the frequency of the planet and sets your individual correct frequency for Earth.
The root chakra is the basic foundational strength that supports the chakras above it.

Balancing The Root Chakra

With a balanced root chakra, the main aspect you will feel will be more stable/security when concerning things like food, shelter, financial security and general safety. The corresponding colour is red.
Many of our anxieties and fears stem from here if this chakra is un-balanced. Physical problem may manifest in the colon, eating disorders, bladder and elimination, lower back, leg and feet issues.

If you feel that your root chakra may be unbalanced, then consider meditation as this grounds you to the current moment. Pay attention to smell in your meditation as smell is the corresponding sense organ.
During your meditation, try to also pay attention to the word "Survival". How strong are your survival instincts? Notice what thoughts, images or feelings come up.
Gemstones for the first chakra include garnet, red jasper, black tourmaline, and bloodstone. You can place the gemstone on the area of the chakra while lying down to help open and align it.
Since red is the colour for the root chakra, try to focus on eating red fruit and vegetable and wear red clothing.
